99 Words with Kevin Chase

Well let’s see…how to start off a 99 words about myself…that took up 10…SWEET!! Start off with the basics…I was born in Big Spring, Texas but was raised all my life in Midland.  I grew up listening to radio stations such as KUFO (for those who are too young…they were the original FM rock station in the Permian Basin on 98 FM), KBAT, “The Rig 14” KRIG, and KWES “The Hot 102 FM”.  All those stations inspired me to be in radio…so after graduating from Lee High School I took radio courses at Odessa College where I took radio lab and had a live radio shift on KOCV 91.3 (this was before it was taken over by the blue haired ladies wanting public radio instead of “that Satan music”).  While I was doing the college thing, I worked for a few years at a record store where I honed my knowledge of rock music (as well as other types of music too).  I got my first REAL radio job doing weekends on KBAT back in the late 80’s and from there my radio career began.  After many years of working in hit radio (and radio in general), I took some time off to see what other opportunities were out there and found out my love for radio and music was just to much to be away from.  So in September of 2005 I was asked to be on the crew to bring back KBAT and couldn’t say no.  So as is with life, I have come full circle and I am back where it all began…rocking your ass off from 3-7 every weekday.
